Call Out to Jesus
Late that night, the disciples were in their boat in the middle of the lake, and Jesus was alone on land. He saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves. About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. He intended to go past them, but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him.
But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!” Then he climbed into the boat, and the wind stopped. They were totally amazed, for they still didn’t understand the significance of the miracle of the loaves. Their hearts were too hard to take it in.
Mark 6:47-52 (NLT)
Have you ever felt like Jesus was passing you by? Like He doesn't see the storms raging in your life?
Jesus doesn’t reveal himself to the disciples until they cry out to him. Like the disciples, you may wonder why Jesus seems to be passing you by. But He hasn't abandoned you. Call out to him! The One who calmed the raging sea can give you peace in the midst of life's storms.
Storms reveal our need for the Lord. They drive us to depend on His power, not our own efforts. When you're being tossed around by the winds of difficult times, cry out to Jesus. He may not instantly quiet the storm, but he will come to you and give you the courage to endure.
"He calms the storm and so let the storm rage and face it. It will not last forever. His peace will bind up the battered ship upon the troubled seas."
PRAY: Heavenly Father. You rule over the storms in my life. Speak peace to my heart when I am afraid. I surrender my adversities to you. Give me the confidence that with you in my boat, I will safely reach the other side. Amen.
PRACTICE: In whatever storm you are in right now, invite Jesus into your "boat." Ask the Lord to be powerfully present with you in your situation.
Surrender it all to Jesus this today.
God bless,
Dave
